French hornist Jaime Thorne is a native of Marion, New York and currently Assistant Principal Horn with the United States Coast Guard Band in New London, CT.
She received an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Richard King, Principal Horn of the Cleveland Orchestra. As a fellowship recipient, Jaime graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Music Education, followed by a Master’s Degree and Performer's Certificate from Pennsylvania State University, where studying with Lisa Bontrager.
While living in Cleveland, Jaime was 2nd horn with the Canton Symphony Orchestra and City Music Cleveland. She also performed regularly with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, and Akron Symphony.
Commuting to New Jersey and Pennsylvania she performs regularly with the Garden State Philharmonic, Princeton Symphony, and the Pennsylvania Centre Chamber Orchestra. She can also be heard on a CD recording for Naxos of Nicholas Flagello’s Concerto Sinfonico for saxophone quartet and orchestra and Sergei Prokovief's Symphony #5.
As a soloist she has performed with numerous groups in Pennsylvania and Ohio, with a most recent performance of Robert Schumann’s Konzertstuck in 2004 with the Seven Hills Sinfonietta in Cincinnati, Ohio.
While living in Pennsylvania, Jaime was on faculty as horn instructor and director of chamber music at the Pennsylvania Music Academy. She was also on faculty at the Pennsylvania State University Music Camp from 1997-2000, and the assistant director of the Penn State Horn Ensemble.
Summer festivals have included the Breckenridge Music Festival and the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado. She has also performed throughout Europe in 2005 with the American Institute of Musical Studies. Other festivals include Bowdoin Chamber Festival in Brunswick, ME and the National Orchestral Institute in College Park, MD. In her free time, she enjoys playing ice hockey, running, and spending time with her husband, dog, and two cats.
