French Hornist Jaime Thorne is a freelance musician in Southeastern Connecticut.
Lessons
Jaime Thorne is a brass instructor with the Thames Valley Music School, and is also available to teach private lessons for all ages in Southeastern Connecticut. Introduction
Jaime Thorne received an Artist Diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Richard King, Principal Horn of the Cleveland Orchestra. As a fellowship recipient, she attended the Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, a Master’s degree, and a Performer’s Certificate while studying with Lisa Bontrager. She played second horn with the Canton Symphony Orchestra and City Music Cleveland and performed regularly with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra and the Akron Symphony.
Jaime Thorne has performed with with the Garden State Philharmonic, the Princeton Symphony, and the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra. She can also be heard on a Naxos recording of Nicholas Flagello’s Concerto Sinfonico for saxophone quartet and orchestra. As a soloist, she has played with numerous groups including a performance of Robert Schumann’s Konzertstück with the Seven Hills Sinfonietta in Cincinnati in 2004.
Jaime was horn instructor and director of chamber music at the Pennsylvania Music Academy. She was also on the faculty at the Pennsylvania State University Music Camp from 1997 to 2000 and was the assistant director of the Penn State Horn Ensemble. She attended the Breckenridge Music Festival and the National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge, Colorado. In 2005, she performed throughout Europe with the American Institute of Musical Studies. Other festival participations include Bowdoin Chamber Festival in Brunswick, Maine, and the National Orchestral Institute in College Park, Maryland.
After nearly four years with the US Coast Guard Band, Jaime left the Coast Guard with an Honorable Discharge and has resumed her focus on orchestral music, playing most recently with the Hartford Symphony, the Nutmeg Symphony, and Penn's Woods, a music festival at the Pennsylvania State University in June, 2010 and 2011. She was most recently principal horn with the Breckenridge Music Festival.
